This Day in Baseball History:
July 24, 1983 > The Kansas City Royals and New York Yankees play the famed "Pine Tar Game" at Yankee Stadium. Minutes after George Brett hits a two-run homer off of Goose Gossage to give the Royals a 5-4 lead, home plate umpire Tim McClelland rules Brett is out for using an illegal amount of pine tar on his bat. American League President Lee MacPhail will later reverse the decision.
