Phillies at the plate: Shane Victorino provided the highlight of the game offensively for the Phillies, lacing a two-out line drive into the right-field corner in the fifth that, to the dismay of many of the fans at McKechnie Field, went for a triple, rather than an inside-the-park home run. Infielder Casey Smith punched a 3-for-4 afternoon that included a tiebreaking home run over the left-field wall in the ninth. He also finished with two RBIs and two runs scored.

Pirates at the plate: In his first Spring Training game this season, shortstop Jack Wilson put in a 3-for-3 day that included a first-inning solo home run and an RBI single an inning later. Serving as the team's designated hitter on Friday, Freddy Sanchez reached base in two of his three appearances and scored once.

Phillies on the mound: After J.D. Durbin allowed two runs on five hits in two innings, J.A. Happ shined in two scoreless innings of relief. However, control issues plagued Shane Youman in his first appearance against his former team. Youman issued four free passes in the fifth inning, leading to two more Pirates runs.

Pirates on the mound: Looking in midseason form already, Ian Snell showed his entire array of pitches in finishing two scoreless innings of work. He was relieved by former first-round Draft pick Sean Burnett, who bounced back from a rocky start to limit the Phillies to just one run in two innings.

Grapefruit League records: Phillies 2-1; Pirates 1-1.

Up next: The Phillies return home to Clearwater, Fla., to take on the Yankees on Saturday at 1:05 p.m. ET, with right-hander Adam Eaton making the start. Left-hander Zach Duke will make his first start of the spring on Saturday when the Pirates travel to play the Reds in Sarasota, Fla., at 1:05 p.m. Duke is scheduled to pitch two innings.
