Tulsa staff honored by organization
Trio garners renamed Mike Coolbaugh Man of the Year Award
TUCSON, Ariz. -- Double-A Tulsa manager Stu Cole, his pitching coach, Bo McLaughlin, and the team's trainer, Austin O'Shea, have been chosen winners of the Rockies' newly renamed Mike Coolbaugh Man of the Year Award.
The award is given annually to a member or members of the club's player development staff. It has been renamed for Mike Coolbaugh, the Tulsa coach who was killed when hit with a line drive while coaching in a game in Little Rock, Ark., on July 22. The trio will be honored at the club's annual player development awards banquet in Tucson.
"We are very proud of the award and very proud of the men who earned it this year," Rockies player development director Marc Gustafson said in the club's press release. "The three of them represent the best of what our organization believes in and all three were at their very best last year during an extremely difficult time for the Tulsa club."
