While the Pirates don't open the second half of the season until Friday, the team optioned reliever Daniel Moskos to Triple-A Indianapolis Thursday.

In 22 appearances with the Pirates this season, he tossed 17 1/3 innings, giving up eight runs (six earned) on 22 hits for a 3.12 ERA. No corresponding move was immediately announced.

Moskos' luck turned in his last two appearances, though, giving up runs in back-to-back outings for the first time this season. The left-hander had been scored upon in six of his 22 games, with opponents batting .314 (22-for-70) against him.

Moskos was recalled from Indianapolis on May 28 and was in his second stint with the club this season.

In addition, Pittsburgh announced that pitcher Ross Ohlendorf, who is on the disabled list with a right shoulder strain, began a rehab assignment with Class A Bradenton Thursday. Infielder Steve Pearce, who has been on the DL with a right calf strain, had his rehab assignment transferred from Bradenton to Indianapolis.
