Right-hander Juan Cruz, a valuable member of Tampa Bay's bullpen last season, has been signed to a Minor League contract by the Pirates, a deal that includes an invitation to Spring Training.Cruz, 33, is a veteran of 11 Major League seasons with six different teams. Predominantly a setup reliever, he has a career ERA of 4.13 in 404 appearances. With the Rays last season, Cruz went 5-0 with a 3.88 ERA in 56 outings before becoming a free agent at the end of the year. The native of the Dominican Republic is the 20th non-roster player invited to the Pirates' Bradenton, Fla. camp. The first workout for Pittsburgh pitchers and catchers is set for Feb. 19.
