The St. Louis Cardinals have purchased the contract of rookie right-handed pitcher Luke Weaver to make the start in today's 1:20 p.m., game against the Chicago Cubs. Outfielder Matt Holliday has been placed on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to August 12 with a thumb fracture suffered in Thursday night's game.

The homestand starts with a three game weekend series against the Atlanta Braves (August 5-7) and concludes with three games versus the Cincinnati Reds (August 8-10). The homestand is highlighted by Christian Day at the Ballpark, "Be The Match" donor drive and a vintage Cardinals bobblehead giveaway.
