Pirates sign three more players from 2011 Draft
Team also signs undrafted free agent from Virginia Tech

The Pittsburgh Pirates signed the following three players from this year's draft.
Alex Fuselier (21st round - OF): Is the first University of Louisiana-Lafayette outfielder to be drafted
since Jefferies Tatford (New York Mets) in 2007...Led the Sun Belt Conference with 12 stolen bases in conference
games and finished the 2011 season as the team leader with fourteen...Was named to the Capital One Academic
All-District VI first-team in May, 2011...Raised his batting average for the third straight season in 2011, hitting .245
as a freshman, .295 as a sophomore and .308 as a junior.
Mike Jefferson (22nd round - LHP): Went 6-4 with a 3.56 ERA (86.0ip/34er) and 70 strikeouts in 18
appearances (14 starts) as a junior at Louisiana Tech...Went 13-11 with one save and a 4.93 ERA and 178 strikeouts
in 62 appearances (30 starts) in three-year career at Louisiana Tech...Was named the seventh-best draft-eligible
prospect in the WAC by Perfect Game USA in 2011...Ranked fourth in the WAC with 69 strikeouts in 2010.
Chris Lashmet (33rd round - INF): Was a four-year starter at Northwestern...Ended his career ranked
second in school history with 49 doubles, fourth with 238 hits, fifth in total bases (355) and 10th in home runs
(20)...Led the Wildcats in 2011 with a .353 average, 16 doubles and 67 hits while being named a second-team
All-Big Ten selection at third base...His .387 on-base percentage in conference play was the fourth-best mark in
the league...Was a first-team All-Big Ten pick his junior year after hitting .327 with a team-best eight home runs
and 43 RBI...Posted a .320 career average in 198 games (196 starts) in four-year career with Northwestern.
The Pirates have also signed right-handed pitcher Joe Parsons as a non-drafted free agent from Virginia
Tech University...Went 7-3 with a 3.12 ERA (75.2ip/27er) in 15 games (13 starts) as a senior this year at Virginia
Tech...Finished his two-year career with the Hokies with an 8-3 record and 3.67 ERA in 21 games (14 starts).
The Pirates have now signed 10 players from this year's Draft.
