After making his Major League debut June 4, McCutchen hit .286 with 26 doubles, nine triples, 12 homers and 54 RBIs. The center fielder also finished the season with 22 stolen bases.
McCutchen is the first rookie to win the Clemente Award since Tony Womack shared it with Kevin Young in 1997. Also receiving votes for the honor were first baseman/right fielder Garrett Jones and right-hander Ross Ohlendorf.
Jones, who finished second in the voting, also just finished his rookie year. After being called up from Triple-A on June 30, he went on to hit .293 and led all Major League rookies with 21 home runs.
In his first full season as a Major League starter, Ohlendorf finished 11-10 with a 3.92 ERA in 29 starts. He came on especially strong in the second half, going 4-3 with a 2.83 ERA in 11 starts after the All-Star break.
