David Price is having a pretty good couple of days. He was named a finalist for the 2012 AL Cy Young Award on Wednesday, and on Thursday he, along with pro partner John Rollins, dominated Walt Disney World's Magnolia Golf Course during the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals Classic.
After Round 1 of the four-day tournament (the Pro-Am event is two days and two rounds), Price's 12-under-par score of 60 -- achieved in tandem with Rollins under the competition's "best ball" format -- gave him shared possession of first place in a field of 128 amateur competitors, including current or former MLB players Fred McGriff, A.J. Pierzynski, Joe Mauer, Carlos Pena, Aaron Rowand, James Shields, Heathcliff Slocumb, Frank Viola and Randy Winn.
After his spectacular round, Price tweeted in celebration:
I'll take it!!! Had a great John Rollins played great and got me some birdies!!!lockerz.com/s/259856667

UPDATE, 11/9: After shooting a 12-under 60 on the Magnolia Course on Thursday, Price and Rollins shot a 10-under 62 on Disney World's other course, the Palm Course, in the second and final round on Friday. Their combined score gave Price a two-stroke advantage over the rest of the amateur field and the right to add "PGA Tour event winner" to his resume. Price was modest in victory:
I agree RT @ncioffi14: @davidprice14 you got lucky
