Perfect 10th for Pirates

Victor Zambrano sparkled in an impressive eight-inning outing, retiring the first 11 Pirates he faced. Ramon Castro added a solo homer in the eighth and the Mets added two more runs in the ninth to build a comfortable lead. The bullpen, though, was unable to close the door at the finish.

The Pirates appeared left for dead in the series opener as they entered the ninth trailing by four runs. But Tike Redman and Matt Lawton each delivered two-run knocks to knot the score at 5 and force extras. In the 10th, Humberto Cota's two-run single brought across the winning run.
