Thirteen lucky children will receive a private meet & greet, mini-tour of the ballpark, the chance to watch Pirates batting practice and all kids will receive a Lucky 13 tee, game tickets in the outfield and $20 ARAMARK vouchers, compliments of Nate. • Pirates broadcaster Lanny Frattare will be one of the guest readers at the season opener of the American Shorts Reading Series 2008. The event will take place at the Carnegie Library Lecture Hall and will launch the book ANATOMY OF BASEBALL. This anthology compiles 20 essays about the great American pastime. Readings begin at 7:30 p.m. and will be followed by a screening of the local documentary about Pittsburgh Negro Baseball Leagues, Kings On The Hill. • Pirates great Kent Tekulve will throw out the first pitch at the East Liverpool Youth Baseball Opening Day ceremonies. The ceremonies will take place at the Beaver Local Middle School Baseball Complex in Lisbon, Ohio. The event will begin at 10:00 a.m.

• Bring your own camera to Team Photofest at PNC Park and get photos taken with your favorite Pirates players on Federal Street before the 7:05 p.m. game against the Braves. There will be two 30-minute sessions (3:00 - 3:30 p.m. and 3:30 - 4:00 p.m.).

• The Pirates have teamed up with the Susan G. Komen Foundation to help sponsor this year's Race for the Cure. In addition, the Pirates will use pink bats and wristbands, a pink lineup card and a pink home plate in honor of breast cancer awareness. Finally, 200 tickets for the game were donated to the Susan G. Komen Foundation of Pittsburgh in the exclusive "Pinked-Out" Zone.

• Pirates broadcaster Steve Blass will be the official race starter for the Cystic Fibrosis Great Strides Event. The event will take place at the South Park Museum Building Track in South Park. Steve will be appearing at 10:30 a.m. Open to the public.

• Pirates alumni Steve Blass, Dave Giusti, Bill Mazeroski, Rick Reuschel, Jim Sadowski, Kent Tekulve and Frank Thomas will take part in the 23rd annual Adelphoi USA Golf Classic. The 2008 event will support the Nellie Briles Fund, which will be used to further aid Adelphoi youth with life skills development. • The Pirates, in association with the Port Authority of Allegheny County and the Kingsley Association, will host the annual "Spirit of King" Awards Ceremony. The ceremony, held in association with Martin Luther King Jr. Day, has been presented annually since 1989 to honor lifetime achievements by local citizens who pursued human rights and equality in the spirit of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. This year's ceremony will take place at 10 a.m. at the Kingsley Center, 6435 Frankstown Avenue, Pittsburgh. The tournament will be held at the River Strand Golf & Country Club. The golf event will benefit the Boys & Girls Clubs of Manatee County. Each foursome will be hosted and have the opportunity to play with a Pirates celebrity. • Pirates broadcaster Lanny Frattare will be one of the guest readers at the season opener of the American Shorts Reading Series 2008. The event will take place at the Carnegie Library Lecture Hall and will launch the book ANATOMY OF BASEBALL. This anthology compiles 20 essays about the great American pastime. • Pirates great Kent Tekulve will throw out the first pitch at the East Liverpool Youth Baseball Opening Day ceremonies. The ceremonies will take place at the Beaver Local Middle School Baseball Complex in Lisbon, Ohio. The event will begin at 10:00 a.m.

• The Pirates have teamed up with the Susan G. Komen Foundation to help sponsor this year's Race for the Cure. In addition, the Pirates will use pink bats and wristbands, a pink lineup card and a pink home plate in honor of breast cancer awareness. Finally, 200 tickets for the game were donated to the Susan G. Komen Foundation of Pittsburgh in the exclusive "Pinked-Out" Zone.
