Pirates Manager of Diversity Initiatives Chaz Kellem is presenting during the Competence and Confidence: Partners in Policymaking, Emerging and Established Leaders program with the Institute on Disabilities at Temple University. The program will take place at the Radisson Hotel in Greentree from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Topics will include overcoming barriers, being a youth leader, accepting yourself, and the importance of being active in the community.

Pirates Manager of Diversity Initiatives Chaz Kellem will be the keynote speaker at the 2011 Youth Employment Expo, which targets students and youth with disabilities and employers in the Indiana, PA area at 10:30 a.m. The expo will begin at 8:00 a.m. and throughout the day have various roundtables, breakout sessions, and more. Neverett will also read "Casey at the Bat" with the Pirate Parrot. This event is closed to the public.
Pirates front office staff will partner with the Consortium for Public Education to host 15-20 Students at PNC Park from the 2011 Future is Mine Student Leadership Conference. Students will shadow various departments during a behind-the-scenes look at Pirates Baseball and the sports industry.

Buses For Baseball: The Pirates and the Major League Baseball Players Association have partnered to host a group of 50 deserving youth. The Buses for Baseball group arrives at PNC Park to take part in a private viewing of Pirates batting practice, where they will meet with current players, get autographs and take pictures on the field. The group will stay for that night's game courtesy of the Pirates, and also receive food and beverage vouchers courtesy of the MLBPA.

The Pirates will partner with Tickets for Kids Charities, Davis Vision, United Concordia and Highmark to provide free dental and vision screenings to children with no health insurance or who are underinsured. The screenings will take place at PNC Park before the 12:35 p.m. game.

The Pirates will host the annual African American Heritage Sports Luncheon in the Lexus Club at PNC Park from 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. Herman Boone, the legendary football coach of T.C. Williams High School in Alexandria, VA, will be the keynote speaker. Boone's inspirational story was captured in the film "Remember the Titans," starring Denzel Washington.
The Pirates will honor six nominees during the Community Champions Pregame Ceremony for their outstanding work and leadership in the Pittsburgh diverse community.

The Pirates have teamed up with the Baseball Tomorrow Fund for their annual Baseball/Softball Equipment Drive. Fans are encouraged to bring any sort of new or gently used baseball/softball equipment including: baseballs, softballs, bats, gloves and uniforms to the collection booth at PNC Park on Federal Street, beginning at 5pm until 7pm. All donations will be given to the Pittsburgh RBI organization.

Jeff Karstens and his fiancée Jessica are hosting a Fundraising Event for Pirates Charities and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation at Nakama Japanese Steakhouse and Sushi Bar on the South Side of Pittsburgh beginning at 6 p.m. Pirates celebrities will be chefs at the hibachi tables, rolling sushi, guest bartending and signing autographs for donations. There will also be activities on 17th Street next to Nakama including live music from the Delaney's, balloon creations from Kahuna Balloona and the Parrot Bounce. Several Pirates players and their wives and the Pirate Parrot are scheduled to attend the YWCA Week Without Violence Kick Off Event at 11:00 a.m. at the downtown YWCA to stuff "emergency supply kits" for a local Women's Shelter to aid those affected by domestic violence.
Pirates alumni members Ken Macha, Rick Reuschel and Kent Tekulve will be playing as celebrity golfers in the Becky Sheetz Memorial Golf Tournament which benefits ARC of Blair County and Pennsylvania Special Olympics.
