Pirates Chairman of the Board Bob Nutting presented a check on behalf of Pirates Charities in the amount of $30,000 that was utilized to purchase a Pirates-themed school bus for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Manatee County.

The donation was presented during a special
on-field pregame ceremony prior to the Pirates home Spring Training game against the Cincinnati Reds on Friday, March 21.

More than $19,000 was raised during the Inaugural Pirates Charities Spring Training Golf Classic, which was co-chaired by Tom Gorzelanny, on February 22 at the River Strand Golf Club in Bradenton.

The additional funds were raised during a series of silent auctions held at McKechnie Field from Sunday, March 16 through Wednesday, March 19.

"We are extremely pleased to reaffirm our commitment to making a positive impact on the Bradenton community," said Pirates President Frank Coonelly. "This donation to the Boys & Girls Clubs, through the work of Pirates Charities, allows us to show that commitment and make a true difference in the lives of so many area youths."
