For the fifth year in a row, the Pittsburgh Pirates are proud to partner with Root Sports to host the "Pirates Charities on Root Sports Auction." The live on-air auction will take place in the Hall of Fame Club at PNC Park when your Pirates take on the Los Angeles Dodgers on Monday, August 13.
Throughout the game that night, fans will have the opportunity to bid on several premier items and experiences either in person at the ballpark or by calling (412) 325-4888. Phone lines -- which will enable fans all across the country to participate -- and the Hall of Fame Club doors will open at 5:30 p.m. and the telecast will begin at 6 p.m.
Fans will also have the opportunity to purchase special VIP bags for $125 each. The bags will include a baseball autographed by a current Pirates player, Pirates baseball tickets and an assortment of other goodies. In addition, randomly selected bags will include vouchers for a variety of premium items, including autographed Pirates items, gift cards and other valuable merchandise. For $500, fans will receive a VIP-Plus bag that includes all of the items in the VIP bags plus an authentic Pirates home white or black alternate game jersey autographed by their favorite player.
Fans will also be able to purchase the bags online at pirates.com/rootsportsauction.
Proceeds from the auction will be used to support Pirates Charities, the "Wins for Kids" program and The Children's Institute of Pittsburgh. Pirates Charities has been pleased to support The Children's Institute through "Wins for Kids" since 2011 with the help of Root Sports and Pirates Manager Clint Hurdle and his wife Karla. "Wins for Kids" provides funding for the Prader-Willi Syndrome Program at The Children's Institute of Pittsburgh, which is the only hospital-based site in the world offering treatment for this complex genetic disorder.
As a result of the auction, Pirates Charities plans to expand its support to include the Children's Institute's Centers of Excellence, which include specialized programs for Prader-Willi Syndrome, brain and spinal cord injury rehabilitation and autism. Your contribution through the "Pirates Charities on Root Sports Auction" will help The Children's Institute impact the lives of thousands of amazing kids and their families in the Pittsburgh region and beyond.
