For the fifth year in a row, the Pittsburgh Pirates are proud to partner with Root Sports to host the "Pirates Charities on Root Sports Auction." The live on-air auction will take place in the Hall of Fame Club at PNC Park when your Pirates take on the Los Angeles Dodgers on Monday, August 13.

Throughout the game that night, fans will have the opportunity to bid on several premier items and experiences either in person at the ballpark or by calling (412) 325-4888. Phone lines -- which will enable fans all across the country to participate -- and the Hall of Fame Club doors will open at 5:30 p.m. and the telecast will begin at 6 p.m.

Among the many unique and exciting items available will be:
  • A road trip to Chicago for the September 14-17 Pirates-Cubs series -- including airline tickets, hotel accommodations and tickets to the games at Wrigley Field.
  • A VIP Skyblast experience -- including tickets to the Pirates-Reds game on Saturday, September 29 plus a dining package, the chance to watch the fireworks show and the concert by Lifehouse from the field after the game, and a meet-and-greet with the band.
  • A family reunion softball game and picnic on the field at PNC Park for up to 30 people.
  • A Kids Fun Zone birthday party at your house with visits by the Pirate mascots and many of the games and activities you see on Federal Street each Sunday Kids Day.
  • A "Root For Your Pirates" Block Party where Root Sports will host a get-together at the winning bidder's house and also shoot a commercial during the festivities, which will later air on Root Sports.
  • A trip to Pirates spring training in Bradenton, Florida to see the team in action at McKechnie Field in 2013.

Fans will also have the opportunity to purchase special VIP bags for $125 each. The bags will include a baseball autographed by a current Pirates player, Pirates baseball tickets and an assortment of other goodies. In addition, randomly selected bags will include vouchers for a variety of premium items, including autographed Pirates items, gift cards and other valuable merchandise. For $500, fans will receive a VIP-Plus bag that includes all of the items in the VIP bags plus an authentic Pirates home white or black alternate game jersey autographed by their favorite player.

Fans will also be able to purchase the bags online at pirates.com/rootsportsauction.

Proceeds from the auction will be used to support Pirates Charities, the "Wins for Kids" program and The Children's Institute of Pittsburgh. Pirates Charities has been pleased to support The Children's Institute through "Wins for Kids" since 2011 with the help of Root Sports and Pirates Manager Clint Hurdle and his wife Karla. "Wins for Kids" provides funding for the Prader-Willi Syndrome Program at The Children's Institute of Pittsburgh, which is the only hospital-based site in the world offering treatment for this complex genetic disorder.

As a result of the auction, Pirates Charities plans to expand its support to include the Children's Institute's Centers of Excellence, which include specialized programs for Prader-Willi Syndrome, brain and spinal cord injury rehabilitation and autism. Your contribution through the "Pirates Charities on Root Sports Auction" will help The Children's Institute impact the lives of thousands of amazing kids and their families in the Pittsburgh region and beyond.
