Pittsburgh Pirates Education Days

Pirates hosted two Education Days in 2016!

Education Days combine classroom curriculum with the sport of baseball using an interactive workbook. This program was developed by the Pittsburgh Pirates in conjunction with Kittanning Middle School, Carson Middle School and Greg Toth with Great American Opportunities in 2007. The Pennsylvania Department of Education has certified this program to be used by students in Elementary and Middle School throughout our region.

Eligible students came to PNC Park to attend a Pirates home day game on the designated Education Day dates. While at the ballpark, and before the game, students participated in a "treasure hunt" where they looked for answers to questions in the specially-designed workbook.

Pirates Charities wishes to thank our underwriting partners -- PPG Industries Foundation, Trib Total Media and Great American Opportunities -- for their generous support of this educational (and fun) initiative!

Pirates Education Days for the 2016 season were:
  • Wednesday, May 4
vs. Chicago Cubs at 12:35 p.m.
  • Thursday, May 26
vs. Arizona Diamondbacks at 12:35 p.m.
