Season Ticket Holder News
November 1, 2018
Dear [Name],

I write to you today to express our deep appreciation for your support of the Pirates and to share with you our excitement for the 2019 season.

Our goal every year is to win the World Series and we fell short in 2018. We did, however, take a significant step forward and are well positioned for success in 2019. Many of our young players grew considerably in 2018 and there is more room for growth. Repeating our seven-win year-over-year improvement in 2019 may get us back into the playoffs but we are working hard to accelerate the pace of our improvement to ensure a Postseason return to PNC Park.

The 2018 season showed that we have significant strengths from which to continue to build. First, our starting rotation can be one of the best in the National League in 2019. Jameson Taillon and Trevor Williams were our first pair of 14-game winners since 1992 and both finished in the top 10 in the NL in ERA. The trade deadline addition of Chris Archer provides another front-line starter for 2019 and beyond and Joe Musgrove proved that he has the type of grit and stuff to be a very effective starter. Veteran Ivan Nova has started 60 games for us over the last two years. Felipe Vazquez, Keone Kela, Kyle Crick and Richard Rodriguez form a strong back end of the bullpen. Indeed, the 2018 season was the first in Pirates history in which we had two relievers with 80 or more strikeouts (Vazquez - 89 and Rodriguez - 88).

Offensively, our outfield led the National League in extra base hits in 2018 (with 215) and our catchers led the NL in on-base percentage (.353) and finished second in slugging percentage (.426) and OPS (.779). We are working hard to improve our overall approach at the plate and the consistency of our offensive attack. With soon to be announced hitting coaching additions, we are looking to put our position players in a better position to reach their offensive potential on a more consistent basis.

We are also excited about the young players in our system who will have an opportunity to help us in 2019. Several of these players received valuable time with the Major League Club in August and September and will be better positioned to make significant contributions in 2019.

If you would like to hear more about your 2019 Pirates, we are having four exclusive Season Ticket Holder Hot Stove sessions in November. Specifically, we will have two one-hour sessions a night on November 27 and 28 (beginning at 5:30 and 7:00). During these sessions, Neal Huntington and I will discuss the 2019 team and answer any questions that you have. Please CLICK HERE or use the gold button below to sign up for one of the sessions. The slots will be filled on a first come basis.

Should you have any questions regarding your plan, the many great benefits of being a Season Ticket Holder, or for questions regarding our upcoming events, please contact your Account Manager.
